223. Naples yellow pale

Naples Yellow Pale is an oil paint with a soft, warm creamy-yellow hue with a subtle beige undertone. Thanks to the presence of both Titanium White and Zinc White in the blend, it offers excellent covering power and a gentle tinting strength, allowing mixtures to be lightened delicately without dramatically altering the original colour. Compared with brighter yellow pigments, its tone is more muted and natural. Owing to its softness, it is particularly well suited to flesh tones, warm highlights, sunlit reflections, atmospheric transitions, and complex natural hues. It performs especially well in classical multilayer painting, underpainting, and subtle modelling of form. It typically dries at a moderate rate and leaves a finish ranging from matt to slightly satin. It is a versatile shade for creating soft, warm colour harmonies.
