228. Indian yellow

Indian Yellow is a rich transparent colour, dark and deep in tone, with a brownish-red-orange cast. When lightened, it reveals a clear pastel warm yellow hue. The colour has an inner luminosity and retains its richness even when applied in thin layers.

The paint is transparent, with high tinting strength, making it particularly well suited to glazing techniques and subtle colour nuances. It spreads evenly across the surface, allowing for delicate transparent layers, rich warm accents, and тонing the ground in the early stages of a painting. Mixed with reds, it produces luminous oranges; with blues, complex natural greens; and with violets, rich neutral and warm brownish mixtures.
