303. Cadmium red deep (HUE)

Cadmium Red Deep (Hue) is an oil paint with a rich, deep red hue with a cool crimson undertone. It is semi-transparent and offers high colour intensity, producing rich, clean, and expressive colour mixtures. As a modern equivalent of traditional Cadmium Red Deep, it recreates the characteristic depth and richness of the original shade while providing excellent colour stability. Compared with Cadmium Red Light (Hue), it has a deeper tone, a cooler hue, and produces cooler pinks when mixed with white. It is particularly well suited to painting floral subjects, portraiture, drapery, deep shadows, and subtle colour transitions. Its semi-transparency makes it equally effective for classical multilayer painting, delicate glazing, and body colour work, preserving both the richness and depth of colour.
